Abstract

The main characteristic of a professional job is the mastery of a high skill by someone who holds a degree of expertise in a particular field. An 'expert' job, ideally only controlled by the person concerned and not controlled by another person who has not prepared and received education and training in accordance with the required academic qualifications. Teacher development as a professional occupation has been pursued through graduating from undergraduate education (S.1) and continued by taking teacher professional education (PPG) and/or educator certification programs. Based on the legislation in force so far, the requirements for academic qualification standards and teacher competencies include: (1) academic qualification standards ranging from PAUD/TK/RA, SD/MI, SMP/MTs, SMA/MA, SDLB/SMPLB/SMALB levels, and SMK/MAK must meet minimum academic qualifications of diploma IV and/or bachelor (S.1) according to the level of the education unit and field of study being taught, and (2) four types of basic competencies, namely pedagogic, personality, social, and professional competencies. This article aims to examine the profession competence of teachers in relation to the demands of learning praxis after the COVID-19 pandemic. The study was conducted by comparing the description of the profession competence of SD/MI teachers with the demands of learning praxis after the COVID-19 pandemic
