The fast development of digital technology has changed how teenagers interact
and made them more vulnerable to negative effects, such as the spread of hate
content online. This issue is shown by the increasing number of content
containing SARA (Suku, Agama, Ras, Antarbangsa) that the government has
handled in recent years. Hate speech is a form of provocative or insulting
communication that can cause serious psychological impacts, including trauma
and emotional problems for those who are targeted. Because of this, a
comprehensive approach is needed, one of which is through education on
tolerance to build a respectful attitude among teenagers. This article aims to
examine the role of multicultural counseling in improving teenage tolerance as a
way to deal with hate content in the online world. Multicultural counseling focuses
on understanding different cultures, managing prejudices, and building empathy
as a basis for preventing aggressive behavior in digital spaces. This approach
helps teenagers develop social skills, critical thinking abilities, and a respectful
attitude toward differences. Through a literature study, this article concludes that
multicultural counseling plays an important role in creating a safer, more inclusive,
and supportive digital environment that promotes the social and emotional
development of teenagers.
