The effectiveness of psychological recovery in counselling is fundamentally driven by authentic interpersonal bonds, yet its implementation is often hampered by overly rigid and formal clinical procedures. This review unpacks theoretical shifts regarding the authenticity of counsellors attitudes, assesses the validity of personality measurement tools, and analyses their application under institutional pressures and the transition to online services. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on the PRISMA protocol, an in depth analysis was conducted of 20 national scientific articles (2016-2026) focusing on affective competence. The results confirm that a counsellor’s sincerity serves as a key pillar linking theoretical understanding with practical application in the field. A transparent attitude, free from insincerity, bridges the professional distance, thereby encouraging self-disclosure and restoring clients confidence. However, this study identified gaps in previous research, which remained theoretical and normative, biased by reliance on self-administered questionnaires. Therefore, updating the character training curriculum for prospective practitioners is crucial to maintaining inner integrity in both digital and conventional eras.
