This article discusses (1) the development of person-centered counseling, (2) the nature of human beings, (3) personality structure, (4) stages of counseling, (5) counseling techniques and (6) research studies on person-centered counseling. Person-Centered Counseling (PCC) is a manifestation of the humanistic approach initiated by Carl R. Rogers in 1940. The perspective of PCC is based on each individual being motivated to achieve positive psychology and being able to solve problems independently. The essence of PCC is oriented towards the client and their environment. The counselor does not dictate to the client, but acts as a facilitator in the counseling process.
