Gender inequality remains a crucial issue in Indonesian education, mainly due to strong cultural constructs, social norms, and school practices that often reinforce gender stereotypes. This study aims to analyze how multicultural counseling can be operationalized as an educational approach to increase gender awareness and equality among students, as well as to identify cultural factors that influence its effectiveness. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) by examining accredited journal articles, proceedings, and empirical studies published in the last ten years. The analysis was conducted using content analysis and narrative synthesis techniques to identify intervention patterns, counselor strategies, and the influence of culture on counseling outcomes. The findings show that multicultural counseling is effective in increasing students' understanding of equal gender roles through the integration of cultural perspectives, reflective dialogue, and a collaborative approach based on student experiences. However, the effectiveness of interventions is influenced by a number of cultural factors, such as patriarchal norms, family parenting patterns, socioeconomic class, popular media, and school culture. This study concludes that the success of multicultural counseling in building gender equality is highly dependent on the counselor's ability to adapt interventions to align with local values without neglecting the principles of gender justice. The practical implications emphasize the importance of improving counselors' multicultural competence and integrating inclusive values into school policies so that counseling services can create sustainable gender awareness transformation.
