Abstract

Feelings of inferiority often arise when students perceive themselves as different in terms of accent, habits, cultural values, or communication styles, which can reduce their confidence to interact with peers. This study employs a literature review method by examining relevant journals, books, and previous research findings. The analysis explores how cultural understanding, counselor sensitivity, and multicultural counseling approaches can support minority students in developing self-acceptance and enhancing their confidence. The findings indicate that multicultural counseling provides a safe space for students to understand their cultural identity, process uncomfortable experiences, and develop more positive social skills. This approach also helps counselors gain a broader perspective on students’ backgrounds, allowing them to design more accurate and culturally responsive interventions. Overall, multicultural counseling is an effective strategy for reducing feelings of inferiority and increasing minority students’ confidence to engage within diverse school environments.
