Truancy is a form of disciplinary misconduct that can hinder the learning process and reduce students’ academic achievement. This problem is commonly found among students who work at night due to fatigue and lack of sleep, which often leads them to neglect their school responsibilities. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of group counseling using Cognitive Behavioral Counseling techniques in reducing truancy among twelfth-grade students who work at night at SMK PGRI 2 Kediri. The study employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of seven students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a validated and reliable truancy behavior questionnaire and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results indicated a decrease in truancy behavior scores after the implementation of Cognitive Behavioral Counseling-based group counseling. The Wilcoxon test yielded a significance value of 0.018 (<0.05), indicating that group counseling using Cognitive Behavioral Counseling techniques was effective in reducing truancy among students who work at night.
