Truancy during class hours is one of the forms of school rule violations that can negatively affect students’ academic development. This behavior is assumed to be related to internal factors, such as self control and learning motivation. This study aims to determine the relationship between self control and learning motivation with truancy behavior during class hours among secondary school students. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The sample was selected using a multistage random sampling technique. Data were analyzed using partial testing (t-test) and simultaneous testing (F-test). The results showed that self control had a significant negative relationship with truancy behavior, while learning motivation did not show a significant partial relationship. However, self control and learning motivation simultaneously had a relationship with truancy behavior. These findings indicate that self control is an important aspect in understanding students’ truancy behavior, while other factors should also be considered in prevention efforts.
