Smoking behavior among Generation Z (Gen Z) in Indonesia is a serious health problem with a prevalence of 7.3% in adolescents aged 10-18 years, triggered by psychosocial factors such as peer pressure and poor emotional regulation. This literature review aims to explore the potential of Solution Focused Brief Counseling (SFBC) as a brief intervention to reduce smoking behavior in Gen Z, focusing on effectiveness, relevant aspects (motivation for change, self-control, emotional regulation), as well as limitations and opportunities for development. The method involved a systematic analysis of 15 primary sources from databases such as Google Scholar and PubMed, limited to publications from the last ten years. The results indicate SFBC has moderate to high potential, capable of reducing addictive behavior by up to 40% through solution-oriented techniques such as miracle questions and scaling, and increasing adolescent self-control and resilience. This aspect aligns with the character of Gen Z who prefers practical interventions. The main limitations are the lack of specific studies in Indonesia and the heterogeneity of evidence, while opportunities include digital integration and combination with motivational interviewing. This research contribution enriches humanistic psychosocial interventions, with implications for prevention in education and public health to reduce nicotine addiction sustainably.
