Academic stress is one of the common problems experienced by Generation Z students due to high academic demands, such as heavy assignment workloads, pressure to achieve academic success, and expectations from both the school and family environment. These conditions often trigger overthinking, which negatively affects students’ learning concentration, motivation, and psychological well-being. This article aims to examine the role of the Solution-Focused Brief Counseling (SFBC) approach in addressing overthinking caused by academic stress among Generation Z students. The findings indicate that SFBC is effective in helping students manage overthinking by emphasizing solutions, personal strengths, and positive experiences possessed by the counselee. SFBC techniques such as the miracle question, scaling question, and exception question help students develop a more positive perspective toward the academic problems they face. Therefore, the SFBC counseling approach can serve as a relevant and practical intervention alternative for school counselors in handling overthinking resulting from academic stress among Generation Z students.
