ABSTRACT
This study was motivated by the high use of social media, which has the potential to cause addiction among students. The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the self-control technique in reducing social media addiction among students at SMAN 1 Mojo. This study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The participants consisted of six students from Class X-1 selected through purposive sampling from a total of 32 students. Data were collected using a social media addiction scale, observation, and documentation. The intervention was conducted through group counseling using the self-control technique based on the Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) approach. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with IBM SPSS Statistics 26. The results showed an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.028 (<0.05), indicating that the self-control technique was effective in reducing social media addiction among students at SMAN 1 Mojo.
