ABSTRACT
Adolescent psychological distress is increasingly prevalent in schools due to academic pressure, social demands, and heavy social media use, triggering anxiety, emotional exhaustion, reduced learning motivation, and difficulty concentrating. However, formal guidance and counseling services remain underutilized due to negative stigma. This study aims to develop a peer counseling guide based on the Walk and Talk technique as an alternative service to reduce distress among high school students. The method used was Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model. Product validation was conducted by material experts, media experts, and counseling practitioners using Aiken's V, while a limited trial involved three students using a pretest-posttest design. Validity results showed scores of 0.68, 0.82, and 0.83 respectively, indicating the guide is feasible for use. The trial showed a decrease in mean distress scores from 101.67 (pretest) to 50.00 (posttest). These findings indicate that the Walk and Talk-based peer counseling guide is a flexible, contextual alternative suited to adolescent characteristics, offering a preventive-curative innovation for student mental health in schools.
