Integrasi Media Kearifan Lokal sebagai Pendukung Konseling Multikultural dalam Penanganan Problematika Remaja

Abstract

The impact of globalization is very apparent on the younger generation. Today's

teenagers tend to interpret information obtained from internet as something that is

"always" true. This’s especially true when the information is something that "goes

viral." Adolescents' unpreparedness in interpreting various developing information,

and the use of technology often results in teenagers becoming victims or even

perpetrators of crimes due to information from social media. Efforts to fortify

teenagers from the negative impacts of globalization include raising awareness,

understanding, and strengthening the values of local wisdom. By forming a

personality guided by noble values, teenagers will be very strong in stemming or

fortifying themselves from the negative influences of globalization. One medium

that can be used to provide awareness and understanding of character values

based on local wisdom is multicultural counseling. Through the

implementation of comprehensive and integrative multicultural counseling, the

counselor, through his personality, through the benchmarks of values that

become the counselor's reference, can become an "intake" of examples and role

models for the counselee in determining which direction and what standards to

adopt in attitude and behavior in global life.
