The philosophy of “Pintar Tuntang Harati” represents a local wisdom of the Ngaju Dayak community in Central Kalimantan that integrates intellectual intelligence (pintar) and moral character (harati). This study aimed to explore the philosophical meaning of this concept and its potential as a foundation for culturally grounded guidance and counseling. Using a qualitative approach with a focused ethnographic design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with two customary elders in Sampit. The findings revealed four main themes: (1) the core meaning of the philosophy as a life guideline that unifies thought and moral action; (2) its cultural dimensions encompassing politeness, honesty, locally rooted character education, and spirituality; (3) its relevance in school guidance and counseling services to strengthen students’ identity and character; and (4) its cultural representation through ritual language and symbolic expressions that cannot be fully captured by literal translation. The philosophy proves highly relevant as a contextual, meaningful, and effective model of culturally based counseling for addressing contemporary moral challenges among young people.
