ABSTRACT
This study was motivated by the need for a valid and reliable instrument to assess students' self-acceptance as a basis for guidance and counseling assessment. The study aimed to examine the validity and reliability of a self-acceptance scale developed based on Albert Ellis's theory. A descriptive quantitative approach with an instrument validation design was employed. The participants were 80 tenth-grade students of SMA selected through simple random sampling. The instrument consisted of 20 items analyzed using Pearson Product Moment correlation for validity testing and Cronbach's Alpha coefficient for reliability testing with SPSS version 22. The results showed that all items were valid, with correlation coefficients ranging from 0.226 to 0.710, exceeding the critical value of 0.207. Reliability testing produced a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.877, indicating excellent internal consistency. Therefore, the Albert Ellis-based self-acceptance scale demonstrates good psychometric properties and is appropriate for measuring self-acceptance among senior high school students.
