This study aims to describe the validity and reliability of the Social Skills Scale and
the Self-Confidence Scale used in research on the influence of interpersonal
communication skills and social skills on students' self-confidence at SMAN 7
Kediri. This study uses a quantitative approach. Both instruments were tested on
42 students outside the research sample. Validity was analyzed using Pearson
product moment correlation with SPSS; reliability was analyzed using Cronbach's
Alpha (r table = 0.304, df = 40, significance 5%). Of the 25 items on the Social Skills
Scale, 21 items were valid with a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.882. Of the 20 items on the
Self-Confidence Scale, 15 items were valid with a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.785. All
indicators of both scales remained represented by valid items. Both scales are
declared valid and reliable (α > 0.70) and are suitable instruments for data collection
in the subsequent research phase.
