Abstract

Career planning is a crucial developmental task, particularly for high school students, as it involves decisions regarding further education and future employment. However, many students remain confused about their career direction, lack an understanding of their own potential, and do not possess strong confidence in their abilities. This study aims to determine the influence of self-confidence on the career planning of high school students. A quantitative approach with an ex post facto design was employed. The sample consisted of 98 Grade XI students from SMAN 7 Kediri, selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using self-confidence and career planning instruments that had met validity and reliability standards. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression with the aid of SPSS. The results indicate that self-confidence has a positive and significant influence on students' career planning. The analysis yielded a calculated t-value of 7.378 and a significance level of < 0.001 (p ≤ 0.05). These findings suggest that higher levels of student self-confidence are associated with more mature career planning.
