This article discusses the urgency of multicultural counseling based on local wisdom as a preventive effort against bullying in Indonesian schools. Bullying, which appears in physical, verbal, social, and digital forms, is often reinforced by cultural factors such as seniority and social stereotyping. Conventional counseling approaches frequently fail because they do not consider students’ cultural backgrounds. Integrating local wisdom such as empathy, mutual respect, and communal harmony into the counseling process increases students’ acceptance of interventions and strengthens positive relationships among peers. Multicultural counseling is implemented through culturally sensitive assessment, value-based intervention design, and collaborative involvement of teachers, parents, and the school environment. This approach improves students’ conflict resolution skills, fosters empathy, and reduces aggressive behavior. Therefore, multicultural counseling grounded in local values constitutes an effective and context-relevant strategy for preventing bullying within Indonesia’s diverse educational settings.
