Abstract

Parenting styles play a crucial role in shaping a child's character, including academic honesty. Authoritarian parenting styles, characterized by high demands, strict rules, and minimal communication, have the potential to influence students' academic behavior. This study aims to determine students' perceptions of authoritarian parenting styles, their implementation, the reasons why students engage in academic dishonesty, and their impact on students' academic honesty at SMP Negeri 2 Plosoklaten. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation with three students as primary informants, as well as guidance counselors, homeroom teachers, and close friends as supporting informants. The results indicate that authoritarian parenting styles are characterized by high grade demands, punishments, activity restrictions, and minimal emotional support, leading to stress, fear of failure, and low self-confidence. These conditions encourage some students to engage in academic dishonesty. This study concludes that authoritarian parenting styles influence students' low academic honesty.
