Abstract

Parental parenting plays an important role in shaping students’ learning behavior, particularly learning motivation and learning discipline at the vocational high school level. The family, as the first educational environment, has a major influence on the development of children’s attitudes, habits, and learning responsibilities. This study aims to analyze the role of democratic parenting styles and vocational high school students’ learning motivation and discipline based on theoretical reviews and field observations. Democratic parenting is characterized by open communication, warmth, responsible freedom, and children’s involvement in decision-making. The findings indicate that democratic parenting supports the fulfillment of students’ basic psychological needs, thereby fostering self-regulation, self-confidence, intrinsic learning motivation, and learning discipline that stems from internal awareness. These findings highlight the importance of synergy between parents, schools, and guidance and counseling services in improving the quality of vocational high school students’ learning behavior in a sustainable manner.
