Abstract

Academic procrastination is the intentional delay in completing academic tasks, often as a form of avoidance from pressure, fear of failure, or discomfort in the learning process. This phenomenon is commonly found in Vocational High School (SMK) environments and has negative impacts on students’ academic achievement, task quality, time management, and mental well-being. This study aims to identify the causes, impacts, and strategies to manage academic procrastination among SMK students. Internal factors such as laziness, mood, low motivation, and difficulties in understanding the material, along with external factors such as peer influence, task characteristics, and lack of teacher support, contribute to this behavior. The consequences include lower academic performance, increased stress, and a recurring pattern of delay. Effective management strategies include time management, enhancement of intrinsic motivation, strengthening of self-regulation, cognitive-behavioral approaches, and support from teachers and parents. This study emphasizes the importance of an integrated psychological, pedagogical, and vocational approach in fostering healthier and more productive learning habits.
