Natural Science (IPA) is a subject that aims to develop students' understanding of nature and the living things around them. One of the important materials in science learning in grade 3 of elementary school is the animal life cycle, which includes an understanding of the stages of development of living things and the process of metamorphosis. In the animal life cycle material, some students have difficulty distinguishing the types of metamorphosis and the sequence of the life cycle correctly. Another influencing factor is conventional learning methods. The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of students' understanding of the animal life cycle material in the natural science subject. This study used a qualitative method. This study was conducted at SDN Sukoiber 1 Jombang. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that some students have difficulty understanding the animal life cycle material.
