Abstract

Problem-solving is one of the essential competencies that individuals need to face academic, social, and personal challenges in the 21st century. Guidance and Counseling services require innovative approaches that provide meaningful learning experiences to develop this competency. This conceptual article aims to analyze the potential of white-water rafting as a medium for developing problem-solving skills from the perspective of Guidance and Counseling through the Adventure Based Counseling (ABC) approach. The discussion was conducted by reviewing relevant theories and previous studies on problem solving, experiential learning, adventure-based counseling, and guidance and counseling. The analysis indicates that white-water rafting offers direct learning experiences involving problem identification, decision-making, teamwork, communication, and evaluation. Through reflective processes emphasized in Adventure Based Counseling, these experiences can be transformed into meaningful learning outcomes that enhance problem-solving skills and can be transferred to everyday life. Therefore, white-water rafting has the potential to serve as an experiential medium that enriches the implementation of Guidance and Counseling services.
