This research is motivated by observations that Civics education at SMKN 1 Plosoklaten is dominated by teacher activities, which result in lazy thinking and passive students. The teaching methods reduce interaction between teachers and students, negatively impacting students' critical thinking skills, as seen from the suboptimal test scores based on the Merdeka Curriculum. After implementing the recitation method, students became more active and innovative, and were able to develop critical thinking skills outside the classroom. This study aims to identify the differences and effects of the recitation method on students' critical thinking. The method used is a quantitative approach with the research subjects being students of class X APHP 1. Data were collected through tests and analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The results showed a significance value of <0.001, indicating a significant difference in students' critical thinking skills before and after using the recitation method. The t-value of 8.2163638, greater than the t-table value of 2.039513, indicates a positive effect of the recitation method on students' critical thinking skills.
