Self-discipline is a crucial trait that supports students' academic success and character development. While the cultivation of discipline in schools is typically associated with the enforcement of formal rules, at MAN 2 Kota Kediri, self-discipline also evolves through an unwritten school culture shaped by daily interactions. This study aims to describe this unwritten school culture as a social mechanism for fostering student self-discipline. A qualitative descriptive approach utilizing a case study design was employed. Data were gathered through interviews, observations, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings reveal that the unwritten school culture develops through teacher role modeling, the cultivation of positive habits, social interactions among students, the social expectations of the school community, and informal reinforcement in the form of appreciation and reprimands. This process facilitates the internalization of disciplinary values, transforming disciplined behavior from mere rule compliance into a matter of personal conviction. The impact is evident in increased responsibility, punctuality, independent learning, and student engagement in both academic and non-academic activities. Thus, the unwritten school culture serves as an effective social mechanism for sustainably fostering student self-discipline.
