Abstract

Students from broken home families are at risk of experiencing emotional well-being problems, including sadness, anxiety, low self-esteem, and difficulties in social interaction. This study aimed to describe the emotional well-being of broken home students and the implementation of individual counseling services in supporting their emotional well-being at SMAN 4 Kota Kediri. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subject was one student from a broken home family, while the informants were the school counselor and the student's close friend. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman (2014) model with source and technique triangulation. The findings showed that before counseling, the student experienced sadness, anxiety, low self-esteem, social withdrawal, and decreased learning motivation. After counseling, the student demonstrated greater openness, improved emotional regulation, better social relationships, and increased learning motivation. Individual counseling services therefore play an important role in supporting the emotional well-being of students from broken home families.
