Abstract

Lack of self-discipline is a problem often experienced by students. Therefore, teachers must be able to provide effective assistance according to students' needs. The aim of this research is to find out whether group guidance using self-instruction techniques can be used and is effective in improving students' self-discipline. This research uses a quantitative approach. The research technique used was pre-experimental design with one group pretest posttest design. The data collection technique in this research uses a self-discipline scale. The sampling method used was purposive non random sampling. The analysis technique used is the N-Gain test. In the N-Gain test, calculation results were obtained which showed that the average N-Gain score was 96,2929, which was included in the effective category because 96,2929 > 76%. So with these results it can be interpreted that group guidance using self-instruction techniques is effective for improving students' self-discipline. This is supported by the average score of students' self-discipline before treatment, namely 55.88 and the average score after being given treatment, namely 98,25. So there was an increase before and after group guidance using self-instruction techniques.
