Abstract

This study aims to reveal students' learning activities in the Biology
subject on the topic of the immune system. This study is a case study
focused on in-depth observation of student learning activities
carried out in one of the Senior High Schools in Kediri Regency, from
February to August 2025. Data collected by the researcher in the
form of stages of student learning activities during the learning
process, obtained through unstructured classroom observations
and interviews with biology teachers. The data were then analyzed
descriptively by comparing the stages of student learning activities
observed with the stages of learning activities listed in the teacher's
lesson plan. The results showed that the stages of student learning
include: prayer, attendance, listening to the learning objectives
conveyed by the teacher, reviewing previous material, group
presentations, discussions, listening to additional teacher
explanations, reviewing the material, listening to the teacher's
explanation for the next meeting, and closing. However, several
important stages in in-depth learning have not been implemented
optimally. Student learning activities are still dominated by teacher
explanations and working on problems, while discussion activities
are still limited. This condition indicates that learning activities do
not fully reflect the stages of meaningful learning that lead students
to think reflectively and be aware of their learning process.
Furthermore, activities that strengthen numeracy literacy have not
yet been demonstrated, as the learning resources used are still
informative and not designed to stimulate data analysis skills,
quantitative reasoning, and the application of biological concepts
in real-life contexts. This study recommends developing learning
designs using innovative learning models in accordance with
government policy, namely the immersive learning approach. This
recommendation is made to strengthen students' numeracy
literacy and enhance collaborative and meaningful learning
activities.
