Abstract

Indonesia is a developing democratic country. One of the characteristics of a developing country is that it carries out development in all fields, and each has goals and targets. Meanwhile, a democratic state respects the rights and obligations of citizens and provides opportunities for its people to participate in politics, and make changes through democratic succession and the placement of people's representatives to sit in government and legislative institutions. The role of political parties is very influential on the condition and future of the nation, because through general elections new leadership will be produced. The legislative institution together with the executive institution will determine the direction and goals of a country. This article examines the role of political parties in democracy in Indonesia. The method used is analyzing literature studies using a descriptive model. The aim of this study is that it is hoped that each political party will bring its vision
