Abstract

Local history education faces increasing challenges in bridging the relevance of historical values with the digital expectations of today’s learners. This study aims to explore the potential and strategies of digital collaborative learning as an approach to revitalize local history in higher education, with a particular focus on history education in Kediri. Employing a narrative review methodology, the study synthesizes twenty recent scholarly publications that discuss digital collaborative learning, history pedagogy, and place-based education. The findings reveal that digital collaborative learning enhances interactivity, student engagement, and historical relevance by integrating technology, locally rooted project-based tasks, and reflective dialogue between lecturers and students. The study also highlights key challenges, including gaps in digital competence and technical barriers in implementation. The main contribution of this research lies in the development of a conceptual framework for local history learning that is adaptive, contextually grounded, and participatory, while offering practical recommendations for curriculum development and
