Abstract

This research is motivated by this phenomenon that encourages concerns about the erosion of traditional values ​​and local wisdom that have been passed down from generation to generation. Based on initial observations in the field, the cultural parade festival in Bandar Lor Village is not only interpreted as a symbolic celebration, but also as a means of strengthening the collective identity of the community. The problems of this research are (1) How is the phenomenon of the implementation of the cultural parade festival as an annual agenda for the community in Bandar Lor Village, Kediri City, in the social and cultural context of the local community? (2) How do the people of Bandar Lor Village interpret the cultural parade festival, both from social, religious, and cultural aspects? (3) What factors influence the sustainability of the values ​​and functions of the cultural parade festival amidst social changes in society? (4) What are the implications of the cultural parade festival for the formation of identity, social solidarity, and cultural awareness of the people of Bandar Lor Village? This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method that is exploratory and interpretative, because it aims to explore the community's understanding and interpret the meanings that arise from their experiences and cultural practices. This research was conducted in Bandar Lor Village, Mojoroto District, Kediri City, East Java Province. The conclusion of this research is that this festival is a cultural activity that emerged from the initiative of the village government and the community after the Covid-19 pandemic as a means to revive the community's social life, preserve local culture, and develop the economic potential of residents.
