Abstract

Indonesia is a country that is rich in diversity, which has many cultures, customs and languages ​​that go hand in hand with each other. Traditions play an important role in the continuity of life in society, such as the Rebo Wekasan Tradition which is a concrete expression of the religious values ​​and spirituality that are firmly held by the people of Suci Village, Manyar District, Gresik Regency. This research describes the history of the Rebo Wekasan Tradition and the meaning contained therein, as well as how the Rebo Wekasan Tradition is implemented in the modern era. This research uses a qualitative approach and ethnographic research which produces extensive research and covers many things. The Rebo Wekasan tradition is a tradition in Java that received direct orders from Sunan Giri to his students when spreading Islam in the Gresik area. This tradition has several meanings contained in it, namely as an expression of gratitude or Tasyakuran, Tabarrukan or hoping for blessings, as a place for friendship, and also as a place for giving alms.
