This study was motivated by the low public speaking ability of grade XI G students at MAN 1 Kota Kediri, indicated by a lack of confidence to perform in front of the class, unclear pronunciation, monotonous intonation, and limited eye contact with the audience. This study aims to describe the implementation of the role play method in learning, to determine students' public speaking ability before and after the implementation of the method, and to analyze the effectiveness of the role play method in improving students' public speaking ability. This study used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach conducted in two cycles, consisting of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 25 students of grade XI G at MAN 1 Kota Kediri. Data were collected through observation, performance tests, and documentation, then analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis, including normality tests and one sample t-tests. The results showed that the average score of students' public speaking ability increased from 78 in Cycle I to 88 in Cycle II, with classical learning completeness increasing from 71% to 100%. The one sample t-test results in both cycles showed a significance value smaller than 0.05, indicating that the improvement was statistically significant. Thus, the role play method proved effective as an alternative learning strategy to improve students' public speaking ability.
