Integrasi Konseling Multibudaya dalam Eksplorasi Nilai 'Kato Nan Ampek' dalam Suku Minangkabau

Abstract

Integrating local values into multicultural counseling approaches is an essential step in enhancing cultural sensitivity in counseling practices. This study aims to analyze and integrate the cultural values of the Minangkabau community, particularly ‘Kato Nan Ampek’ the four fundamental principles of communication in Minangkabau culture into the context of multicultural counseling. The research employed the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, involving the identification, selection, evaluation, and synthesis of relevant literature. A total of 15 articles related to multicultural counseling, local wisdom, and Minangkabau cultural values were critically analyzed. The findings reveal that Kato Nan Ampek, which consists of kato mandaki, kato manurun, kato malereang, and kato mandata, holds significant potential for fostering ethical, empathetic, and culturally-centered communication in counseling. The integration of these values can strengthen the counselor-client relationship, thereby enhancing the overall effectiveness of the counseling process. This study contributes to the development of theory and practice in multicultural counseling based on local wisdom, particularly in the Indonesian context. It is hoped that the findings serve as a practical reference for counselors to incorporate local values into culturally relevant counseling approaches.
