Main Article Content
Abstract
Rapid technological developments have brought significant changes in various fields, including education. Social media such as Instagram, TikTok, and WhatsApp have become an important part of students' lives, providing opportunities to support effective learning. This study aims to analyze the relationship between social media use and students' learning motivation through literature studies. Social media can have positive impacts, such as increasing learning motivation, broadening horizons, and supporting interactions with peers or teachers. However, unwise use risks causing academic procrastination, lack of self-confidence, and bullying. The results of the study show that the influence of social media depends on usage patterns. Wise use, with the support of parental supervision and a conducive environment, can maximize its benefits. Conversely, excessive intensity of use can have a negative impact on motivation and learning outcomes. These findings provide insight for educators and parents to optimize social media as a learning aid while minimizing its negative impacts on students.
