Board game Berbasis Budaya Lokal sebagai Media Inovatif dalam Meningkatkan Keterampilan Berbicara Siswa Sekolah Dasar

Speaking skills are a crucial aspect of Indonesian language learning in elementary schools; however, many students still struggle to express ideas in a coherent and confident manner. Engaging and contextual learning media are needed to address this issue. This conceptual study aims to examine the potential of a board game based on local culture as an innovative learning medium to improve students’ speaking skills in elementary schools. Local culture is selected because it is closely connected to students' daily lives and can foster pride in regional cultural heritage. The discussion focuses on the characteristics of board games as educational tools that promote oral interaction, speaking confidence, and structured idea delivery. The results of this review indicate that board games with local cultural content have the potential to support a fun, meaningful, and communicative learning process for lower-grade elementary students, especially in developing speaking skills.
