The tradition of manusuk sīma is one of the important cultural heritages contained in various inscriptions in Java, including those related to the founding of Nganjuk. In the commemoration of Nganjuk's Anniversary, the manusuk sīma procession was reconstructed and presented again as part of a series of ceremonial events. This study aims to examine the preservation of the manusuk sīma tradition by comparing the description of the procession contained in the inscription with the implementation of the procession in contemporary celebrations. The method used is an epigraphic study to analyze textual data from inscriptions containing information about manusuk sīma, as well as a cultural anthropology approach to understand how the Nganjuk community adapts and reinterprets the tradition in the current context. The results of the study show that there are elements of the procession that are still maintained, although some parts have been adjusted according to social and cultural developments. This study emphasizes the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in understanding the dynamics of preserving traditions that originate from written historical remains and contemporary cultural practices.
