Abstract

This research was motivated by the results of observations at SD Negeri 1 Banaranwetan, Nganjuk Regency on class V students. In teaching and learning activities, the learning resources used were only LKS and BSE books. The learning media used is only PowerPoint. Teachers predominantly use the lecture method, students appear passive in the learning process. The aim of this research is to analyze the need for learning media as an alternative to assist science learning. This study used descriptive qualitative method. This research was carried out at SD Negeri 1 Banaranwetan, Nganjuk Regency with 33 students and 2 class V teachers as respondents. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and distributing questionnaires to teachers and students. The data analysis technique in this research involves describing the data from the media needs analysis questionnaire which is analyzed in detail. The results of the research show that students and teachers need learning media for learning science and technology material on the human respiratory system. Thus, learning media was approved to be developed in the development of SIPASIA media based on interactive multimedia material on the human respiratory system for fifth grade elementary school students.
