Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematika Siswa SMA Pada Materi Statistika

This research aims to determine students' mathematical problem solving abilities in
solving summary questions on statistics material. This research uses a qualitative
descriptive method where the researcher will describe his findings. The subjects of
this research were 3 class XI students from SMAN 3 Kediri school who had high,
medium and low abilities. The instruments used to collect data were tests and
interviews. The test given is in the form of essay questions on statistics material.
Interviews were conducted with students to find out more about students'
mathematical problem solving abilities. The results of this research are based on
the steps for solving mathematical problems according to Polya, namely (1)
Students' ability to understand the problem; (2) Students' ability to plan solutions;
(3) Students' ability to solve problems; (4) Students' ability to recheck the
correctness and solutions used. The results of this research are that students in the
high, medium and low categories can only reach the stage of ability to understand
problems.
