Abstract

Mathematics is one of the subjects studied at all levels of education, apart from that, mathematics also becomes a fear or boredom for students when receiving this lesson because mathematics usually has the longest study hours compared to other subjects. Starting from displeasure, boredom and fear of Mathematics subjects, it causes students to have difficulty understanding the material, especially multiplication. Another symptom is that many teachers use teaching methods that tend to be the same in every class meeting. This research aims to determine the profile of understanding of multiplication material in mathematics subjects. This type of research is quantitative research. This research was conducted at SDN Tarokan 3 Kediri. The instruments used in this research were interviews with class IV teachers and distributing (questionnaires) to class IV students. The research results showed that 88% of students had difficulty understanding multiplication because the methods taught by teachers tended to be boring, made students forget easily, and required a lot of time when doing multiplication practice questions.
