Abstract

This research is based on observations at SDN Gedangsewu 1 in class IV, it was found in science learning teachers still use conventional models so that students become passive, as a solution, namely the application of the POE (Predict, Observe, Explain) model. The formulation of the research problem is what are the student learning outcomes using the conventional model, what are the student learning outcomes using the POE model, are there significant differences in student learning outcomes using the POE model compared to using the conventional model. This research aims to determine student learning outcomes using the conventional model compared to the POE model, is there a significant difference in student learning outcomes using the conventional model compared to the POE model. This research method uses quantitative methods with a nonquivalent group design model. The subjects of this research were 28 grade IV students at SDN Gedangsewu 1. The data analysis techniques used are normality test, homogeneity test, paired sample test, independent sample test, n gain test. The results of this research show that there are significant differences in classes using the POE model compared to classes using the conventional model and the application of the POE model in science learning regarding changes in the state of substances is quite effective.
