Abstract

Young (2012) argues that Internet addiction can be defined as a syndrome characterized by spending too much time on the Internet and being out of control with online use. A real example of internet addiction is that students have difficulty concentrating during class.The aim of this research is to reduce the level of internet addiction in junior high school students in Nganjuk City using the Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) Group Counseling Process. The validity and reliability of the instrument is very important to implement in order to obtain accurate and accountable data in order to determine the level of internet addiction of junior high school students in Nganjuk City. This article is limited to the results of the validity test which were distributed to 60 class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Sukomoro, obtaining 34 valid items with a reliable coefficient of 0.805. The 34 items represent each indicator of internet addiction. Based on the validity and reliability test of the instrument, the Internet Addiction Scale can be used to measure the level of internet addiction in junior high school students in the city of Nganjuk in the next research stage.
