Conventional Arabic language learning has been dominated by structural-mechanistic approaches emphasizing abstract rule memorization and mechanical drills, contributing to low student motivation and high language anxiety in many educational contexts. This systematic literature-based review examines how the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) framework offers a pedagogically promising alternative for Arabic language education in the 21st century. By synthesizing theoretical perspectives from contemporary language learning research and analyzing documented instructional models, this review examines the potential integration of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) methodologies with STEAM principles. The analysis includes examination of two documented instructional design implementations at the higher education level and qualitative observations of immersive digital language learning applications on technological platforms. The literature synthesis suggests that STEAM-informed approaches may support more engaged, contextualized, and multimodal learning experiences compared to traditional methods; however, empirical evidence regarding specific cognitive and linguistic outcomes remains limited and requires further rigorous investigation using validated assessment instruments. This review identifies both promising pedagogical directions for language curriculum development and significant research gaps that must be addressed through systematic, longitudinal studies with appropriate control conditions
