Response of Thin-walled cylidrical Tubes Subjected to Axial Loading under Dynamic Conditions

Tabung silinder berdinding tipis telah dipakai secara luas pada struktur penyerap energi impak. Hal ini disebabkan kemampuannya yang menonjol dibandingkan dengan struktur yang lain. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan analisis dengan menggunakan metode elemen hingga untuk mendapatkan respon tabung silinder berdinding tipis saat mendapatkan beban axial. Pembebanan dilakukan dengan memberikan benturan pada kondisi kecepatan rendah sampai dengan kecepatan tinggi. Specimen dibuat dari aluminum alloy agar tidak terjadi strain hardening sedangkan penumbuk dibuat dari material steel. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan terjadi kenaikan gaya reaksi maksimum pada specimen ketika kecepatan tumbukan ditingkatkan. Pada kecepatan rendah, tekukan (wrinkle) terjadi pada satu tempat dan terjadi local buckling di dinding tipis. Sedangkan pada kecepatan tinggi wrinkle terjadi pada seluruh panjang specimen sehingga meningkatkan gaya reaksi maksimum. Pola deformasi pada cross-section specimen tidak mengalami perubahan yaitu tetap axis-symmetric.
